Walk-In Coolers and Walk-In Freezers

June 3rd 2014

On June 3, 2014 the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) issued a final rule adopting more-stringent energy conservation standards for some classes of walk-in cooler and walk-in freezer components, having determined that these standards are technologically feasible and economically justified and would result in the significant conservation of energy. These standards are expressed in terms of annual walk-in energy factor (AWEF) for the walk-in refrigeration systems, R-value for walk-in panels, and maximum energy consumption (MEC) for walk-in doors.
