Data Acquisition

To help assess the market for energy-efficient products, the Energy Efficiency Standards (EES) group gathers data from retail sources on the Internet. Using various approaches, including web crawling, the group gathers data on the price, energy efficiency, and other features of products for sale on the U.S. market. These data help EES in determining the price of more-efficient products relative to less efficient ones, as well as in tracking the evolution of the market as prices for newer, more-efficient products decrease and market share grows.
